Meatballs From Sweden With A Recipe

1 pound ground beef 1/2 pound ground pork 1 small onion, finely diced 1/2 cup breadcrumbs 1/2 cup milk 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2 cups beef or vegetable broth

Put milk and breadcrumbs in a bowl and let the breadcrumbs soak up the milk.

Mix ground beef, ground pork, finely diced onion, soaking breadcrumbs, egg, salt, black pepper, and ground allspice in a big bowl until everything is well mixed together.

Put oil or butter in a big pan and set it over medium range heat. It takes about 10 to 12 minutes of cooking for the meatballs to be fully cooked and browned on all sides.

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the same pan. To make a roux, add the flour and stir it in constantly for one to two minutes.

Slowly add the broth and heavy cream while whisking the mixture to make sure it is smooth. Bring it to a boil and stir it all the time until it gets thick.

Cover the cooked meatballs with the sauce and put them back in the pan. Let it cook for another 5 to 7 minutes.

This Swedish meatball dish can be served with rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes. If you want to add a traditional Swedish touch, you can add lingonberry jam.
