Recipe for Traditional Lasagna Made at Home

Ingredients

1 pound (about 450g) ground beef 1 onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce 1/2 cup water 2 teaspoons sugar 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves 1/2 teaspoon salt

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.

Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onions are softened.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, sugar, dried basil, salt, and black pepper.

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with the beaten egg.

In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce.

Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a portion of the meat sauce, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese.

Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
